Educational Programs for the Classroom

Programs can be adapted for various age groups and specific topics. The programs can be presented at the museum or in your classroom. Please allow approximately one hour for each program.

Commercial Shipping - Learn about the history of freighters on Lake Erie and make a model ore freighter.
Cost: $3.00 per student.

Commercial Fishing - Sandusky was once the fresh water fish capital of the world. Learn about fishing boats and make a model of one.
Cost: $3.00 per student.

Passenger Boats - Learn about the passenger boats that frequented the Sandusky docks and Cedar Point, as you make a model paddleboat.
Cost: $3.00 per student.

Recreational Boating - Learn about the various types of pleasure boats and make a model sailboat.
Cost: $3.00 per student.

The Boats of Sandusky’s Underground Railroad - Explore Sandusky’s connection with the Underground Railroad. Each student will also make a Jacob’s Ladder toy which was popular during the time period.
Cost: $3.00 per student.
